| Truform speeds up the Taiwan Southern Highway
A Taiwanese Formwork Contractor, Hing Jiang, owned by Ms Liao, is the company behind one section of the Taiwan Southern Highway project. On completion, this major highway will link the towns of Jiouru and Linbian, stretching for 180 km. The formwork requirements were extensive to say the least.
Originally Ms Liao was going with traditional timber form and 90 mm x 60 mm hardwood was specified. It was Jeff Tseng, Sales Engineering Manager at United Forestry Products Corporation who suggested an alternative.
Pointing out the time savings and other benefits of Truform, Ms Liao was converted.
Using Truform, Ms Liao was able to reduce the construction time from 30 to just 20 days. Truform's quicker turnaround means she can increase the number of pours from 12 to 18 per year, allowing more effective use of labour and of equipment.
Not only is there a time saving in construction, but the material itself is economical. Truform comes in smaller dimensions and the bearers and joists could be re-configured to allow more space between them, requiring fewer members. This meant a fibre saving of 34% compared to the solid timbers.
The Truform was also quicker to disassemble, saving on labour there too.
After speedier construction and ease of use on the Highway, Ms Liao is now more than convinced of Truforms benefits.
